Description :

The Queens’ Garden is bordered by historic yews, again info below, and the Banqueting Hall ruins has castellated yew hedges. We also have topiary queens – Lady Jane Grey and Queen Katherine Parr on route to the Chapel and Queen Elizabeth I near The Knot Garden.
Lady Ashcombe, chatelaine of Sudeley Castle & Gardens helped develop the design of the 10 garden

The Knot Garden
The Knot Garden is a sheltered, courtyard garden comprised of 1,200 box plants which form an intricate geometric design, interspersed with coloured gravel. The design is based on a pattern on a dress worn by Elizabeth I in a famous painting, The Allegory of the Tudor Succession, which hangs in Sudeley Castle.

Historic Yews
Yews in shades of green and gold, including the double yew hedges, were planted by Emma Dent in 1856 “to furnish the garden”. Keeping the hedges trimmed and the topiary in shape occupies the gardening team for several months each late summer and autumn.
